Whilst I still have much to learn and people to meet some days I feel I have been amongst you all for a long time. Bromley is becoming increasingly “home” and I am getting to know the vagaries of the traffic system that I found so confusing when I first arrived. Although I am still baffled by the on-going yet ever moving redevelopment works shutting off my regular routes I do now know a few more back ways to keep me moving, though occasionally I unexpectedly find myself somewhere different to where I expected. This is probably true in the two Churches too!

So whilst I do still have much to learn about how things were in the past the time has come when we start to look more fully to the future. Not that everything has to change, far from it. However there is a sense that if we are standing still we are going backwards, because the world moves on. Going forward can be quite scary, and most of us prefer the known to the unknown. Yet Proverbs 29:18 reminds us that “Where there is no vision the people stumble over themselves” and so it is important that we take the time to listen to God speaking to us and review what we are truly being called to do. This is not an easy task. This is not a quick task. Yet it is an important task that we are all called to play a part in. Some will come full of ideas, some will have little to say but what they do contribute may be the pearl of wisdom, and some may not be able to come and participate but can pray for God’s guidance for us all. I encourage you in the months and years that we journey together that we continue to pray for each other as we seek God’s will for the future.

2 Corinthians 5:7 “for we walk by faith, not by sight”.
